The MTB training tour takes place at the beginning
of the summer cycling season. We have put together 4
days of awesome epic style riding on the Cape West
coast that will serve you well in your preparation
for the any multiday event including Cape Epic,
Sani2C or Tour d Afrique. If you are new to multiday
riding then this camp will serve as a good platform
to build on and an ideal opportunity to clear up
some uncertainties earlier rather than later.
If you
have ridden before it will help to whip you back
into shape and prepare you for the hard road that
lies ahead. The training and preparation is almost
more fun than the event itself so take this
opportunity to get the most out of the experience.
This
trip is fully catered with accommodation, meals and
ride drinks included. The ride is a circular route
passing through some of the west coast farm towns
and idyllic fishing villages before heading into the
Piketberg mountains and then back down via the Berg
river on the homeward leg. Although these days will
have their fair share of climbing, they are more
about spending days in the saddle and doing multiple
days of 100km distances. This
camp is fully catered and supported, it includes accommodation, breakfasts and dinner as well as
full vehicle backup on all the days.

This training tour follows the basic
Pioneers MTB Tour route just with epic
proportions as we add in some extra distance and
technical riding.
Day 1: ~105km of
mixed terrain following some spectacular tracks
along the west coast starting in Langebaan going via
Saldanha nature reserve, Jacobsbaai, Vredenburg and
finishing in the Cape Columbine nature reserve for
the night and sleeping less than 5 meters from the
sea.
Day 2: ~102km of
some more spectacular riding passing through the
fishing villages of Paternoster, Stompneusbaai, St

final climb upto 980m in the last 18km of the day
will prove a test for all especially on the 10%
gradient of some of the sections. the end of the
hardest day will see you spend the night in a
mountain cabin on top of the world.
Day 3: ~90km of
slightly easier riding but no less spectacular
riding. Start the day off with a 15km descent of
epic proportions and then spend most of the morning
winding through the Piketberg passing through

luxurious farm guesthouse at the end of the road on
the banks of the Berg river will be a welcome sight
after 3 days of hard riding.
