Jenny (Aug 09)

Thank you so much for a really special experience. It was wonderful to experience the whole trip with you.
Anne (Sept 08)

I want to thank you so very much for the last three days - a hi-light in my life. I was very impressed by your attention to detail, to the tour itself, the cycling, the accommodation, the food etc. Also for your patience with me particularly on the little hill you all called a mountain - at Aurora !! I have been raving to my wife, Liz about the three days and all that we experienced, and how much I enjoyed it.
Richard (Sept 08)

Thanks once again for a great three days !!!! The tour was awesome and the company even better many thanks !!!!
Trevor (Aug 08)

I think that the trip was one of the very best trips I have ever done. Italy, France, Austria, UK – nothing was quite as much fun as this trip. Thank you Alan, Winston, Trevor, and David for making the trip so memorable! I looked forward to the trip for so many months that my only sadness is that the trip is over. I will just have to book again!!

Pioneers West Coast Experience Promotional Tour - May 2008

A great experience was had by all on the recent promotional West Coast Experience MTB tour. The diversity of the west coast was showcased as the tour party experienced the changing of the seasons with some wet riding conditions, mist and then warm glorious sunshine.

The tour  kicked off with a visit  to the fossil park where everyone learned some rather interesting facts about the effects of the Berg River on the region. Arriving at the beach camp was another highlight and the weary cyclists were soon happy and warm, chatting around the fire with a glass of red wine anticipating a warm seafood meal.

The interesting riding into St Helena and then lunch on the Berg river was a big hit. The climb up the mountain was testing with the muddy tracks but oh so rewarding, the hot chocolate and coffee at the top got the cheer and conversation going. The next morning the sun came out as if nothing had happened the day before and suddenly the views were endless.

It was a cruise down to the Berg river for the final night stop of the tour and the grand old farm estate. The cyclists were a little uncomfortable with the lavish luxury that they found themselves in. But they soon settled in after lunch on the lawn and some exploring around the farm yard.

I think everyone was keen to spend another few days on their bikes after such a great tour.

Bicycling Magazine
On this promo tour several of the cycling press had the opportunity to experience the west coast first hand. Kirsten Moller, online editor from Bicycling magazine blogged her daily rides and captured the essence of the tour in her final ride report, "Experience SA Like Never Before From Your Bike" .

Kirsten writes, " Each destination and nightly accommodation varies greatly - from a beach camp, to a mountain cabin, to a luxury farmhouse - and the journey between filled with some awesome scenery, and fun riding. The hospitality is exceptional." She ends off with, "So if you enjoy mountain biking, but are tired of the same old boring routes, try the West Coast Experience Bike Tour. You won't regret it." Ride Magazine

Adele Tait from Ride Magazine welcomed the sedate pace of the tour and truly experienced the variety of the west coast. She writes, “Instead of charging off towards the biggest obstacle on the horizon every day, our tour leader, Alan Cotton, has taken the trouble to devise an itinerary that allows you to say that you have been to the West Coast, not just ridden up and over some stuff there.”

Mountain Biker Magazine

Mountain biker and editor of the Mountain Biker magazine Mylene Loumeau travelled all teh way from KZN to experience the Pioneers MTB Tour. Read her full story below, where she commented "The relaxing afternoon and gorgeous sunset will last in my memory for some time to come. The tour was magnificent with no need for improvement - we all agreed that the 2 main necessities after a long ride is a decent hot shower and lots of food, all which were satisfyingly met!"
